Does vitamin A degrade?

Studies such as those of Rakuša et al. (2021) show that there are products that by the time their best-before date arrived had lost up to 75% of their total retinol content.

Retinyl acetate is more stable, and its degradation under the storage conditions established in the product means up to 90% of the original retinoid content is retained after its best-before date.
