Aescin-Standardized Horse Chestnut Extract
Horse Chestnut Extract (20:1) 250mg from Essentialseries is a dietary supplement in vegetable capsules, made from a raw material 20 times more concentrated from the seed of the plant Aesculus hippocastanum, standardized in Aescin, its main functional component, in a complete formula with Vitamin C and Iron for their synergistic properties.
The name Horse Chestnut is misleading, as it is not a chestnut, since it does not belong to the genus Castanea. However, it is named so due to the great resemblance of its fruits to traditional chestnuts. It is not Indian either, nor does it have anything to do with India, as it is native to regions of Southeast Europe, specifically the Balkans, where it grows naturally, although it is now more widespread in other regions.
Horse Chestnut extract is used for many purposes, but its main function is to promote circulatory health.
HSN Quality - Discover Horse Chestnut
20% Aescin Guaranteed
Aescin is a saponin characteristically present in Horse Chestnut.
It is the most studied flavonoid in relation to the plant, as it is responsible for most, if not all, of the plant's properties.
HSN extract has been standardized to 20% Aescin, so each daily dose of 500mg of extract contains 100mg of Aescin as a key compound.
100% Seed Extract
Not all 'Horse Chestnut' is equally potent or has the same properties, as the distribution of its naturally occurring compounds is variable and different parts of the plant have different natural concentrations.
It is the Horse Chestnut seed, the fruit, that is the most valued part due to its Aescin content, being the most concentrated section of the species, and thus the most used for the preparation of extracts and other presentations aimed at harnessing the plant's functional properties.
20 Times More Concentrated
Plant extracts are concentrated during extraction, with variable concentrations depending on the plant treatment process.
HSN Horse Chestnut has been concentrated 20 times more, so each 500mg of Horse Chestnut seed extract equals 10000mg of native seed.
We have significantly concentrated the extract without damaging its natural Aescin content, nor affecting other natural bioactives of the plant, except for those we selectively wanted to eliminate, such as Esculin.
Formula with Iron and Vitamin C
Due to their properties related to the cardiovascular system, we have complemented Horse Chestnut's action with selected micronutrients: Iron and Vitamin C. Why?
Because Iron contributes to normal formation of red blood cells and hemoglobin, and contributes to normal oxygen transport in the body.
And Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of blood vessels.
Properties of Horse Chestnut
Horse Chestnut has a broad spectrum of action thanks to the activity of its bioactive components, among which Aescin, standardized in HSN extract, stands out.
Among its properties, it stands out that:
- Supports physiological activity helping tissues, skin, hair, and nails.
- Helps maintain healthy veins and capillaries.
- Helps with the physiological pH balance of the stomach.
- Helps maintain joint mobility and flexibility.
In other words, it has properties associated with nutricosmetics, circulation, digestion, and joints.
In general, it has antioxidants that can protect against free radicals and help in case of food intake deficiency or increased nutrient needs.
Among all its features, the circulatory function stands out, specifically its properties on the lower limbs because: It helps maintain healthy venous circulation in the legs.
Free from Esculin - No Toxic Compounds
The seed or fruit of Horse Chestnut contains a naturally occurring compound called Esculin, which is the main responsible for the bitter taste of this natural seed, and the reason why its consumption as a native fruit is discouraged in humans, as in large quantities it has toxic potential.
HSN extract has been selectively developed to eliminate the natural Esculin from Horse Chestnut seed to ensure the total safety of the product at the established daily dose.
