What is Cluster Dextrin® (Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin) Powder?

Highly branched cyclic dextrin (Cluster Dextrin®) by RawSeries is a powdered food supplement, based on highly branched cyclic dextrin Cluster Dextrin®.

Cluster Dextrin (Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin) is a new type of dextrin produced from amylopectin by the cyclisation reaction of a branching enzyme (EC 2.4.1.18).

Genuine Cluster Dextrin® contains no added sugars in its composition and is suitable for vegetarians.

Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates contribute to the recovery of normal muscle function (contraction) after highly intensive and/or long-lasting physical exercise leading to muscle fatigue and the depletion of glycogen stores in skeletal muscle.1

Properties of Cluster Dextrin®

Cluster Dextrin®, due to its physicochemical characteristics, has some interesting properties.

Molecular weight distribution

Cluster Dextrin® has a narrower molecular weight distribution than other dextrins.

This may be partly due to the high specificity of the branching enzymes used in its production.

Cluster Dextrin® has a high molecular weight.

Water-soluble and stable

Although Cluster Dextrin® has a high molecular weight, it also has a high solubility.

A solution of Cluster Dextrin® has the following characteristics compared to other dextrins of similar dextrose equivalents:

  •  It creates a low osmotic pressure in the solution.
  •  It increases the amount of carbohydrates that can be used per volume of liquid.

Low sweetness

The sweetness level of Cluster Dextrin® is extremely low, due to its high purity and the fact that it contains fewer low molecular weight substances.

This is another characteristic of the product:

Higher concentrations can be used in solution as they do not significantly alter the sweetness and do not cause thirst.

  •  Good solubility, it doesn't cloud the liquid or settle, even at high concentrations.
  •  No added sugar, as it is a complex carbohydrate.
  •  Low sweetness, it doesn't significantly affect the taste of the mixture used.

    I think it is very good. I say "I think" because I have been using it for a short time. I use it in intra-workout, I put 20gr, along with 10gr BCAAs 4:1:1, 10gr of glutamine and 1gr of salt. I notice that I train more fluid, finishing the series better. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not. The zip of the bag does not close as it should, it remains a little open, as in almost all products.
