Native type I collagen is not properly absorbed, so it must be pre-digested using industrial procedures. This process is called hydrolysis.

Hydrolysis can be done by many methods, the most common (but less recommended for collagen) being acidic hydrolysis.

At HSN we follow enzymatic hydrolysis procedures to hydrolyze our collagen into peptides, and thanks to this we’ve achieved a much milder taste, since acidic hydrolysis naturally generates a huge amount of salt and makes the raw material very bitter.
