Milk Thistle Extract (Silymarin) 450mg by Now Foods is a food supplement based on milk thistle extract (Silybum marianum) rich in silymarins.
Among the many properties attributed to this plant, the main ones are that it supports digestion and purification of the body and protects liver tissues while maintaining proper liver function.
Silybum marianum or milk thistle is the most widely researched plant for the treatment of liver disease. The active complex of milk thistle is a lipophilic extract of the plant's seeds and is composed of three flavonolignan isomers (silybin, silydianin, and silychristin) collectively known as silymarin.
Silybin is a component with the highest degree of activity and constitutes 50-70% of silymarin. Silymarin is found throughout the plant, but is concentrated in the fruit and seeds.
