IFS Food at HSN: certified quality at the highest level

At HSN, we understand quality as a way of working. It does not begin when the product reaches your hands, but much earlier: in the selection of raw materials, in the development of each formula, in the control of every process and in the manufacturing carried out at our own production plant.

That is why our factory located in Granada has renewed the IFS Food certification for the fourth consecutive time, once again obtaining the Higher Level rating, the highest level within this international food safety and quality standard.

IFS Food is not just a certificate: it is an external, independent and demanding validation of how we manufacture, control and protect the quality of all our products.

What exactly is IFS Food certification?

The IFS Food standard (International Featured Standards) is one of the most widely recognised international frameworks for assessing food safety and the quality of industrial processes. Its aim is to objectively verify whether a factory is capable of producing safe, authentic products that comply with the strictest market specifications.

Unlike an isolated analysis, IFS Food assesses how a factory works from the inside:

  • Management and traceability: Full control from receipt of the ingredient through to final packaging.
  • Culture of prevention: Robust procedures in hygiene, risk management, food fraud mitigation and Food Defence.
  • Consistency and transparency: Assessment of whether each process is perfectly defined, documented and verified.

What does IFS Food certification mean for a factory?

Obtaining IFS Food certification means that a factory has passed a demanding audit carried out by an independent certification body. During this assessment, the products, production processes, documentation, internal controls, traceability, incident management, working environment and the company’s ability to maintain an effective food safety system are reviewed.

For a plant like HSN’s, it means demonstrating that quality does not depend on isolated checks, but on a complete system that accompanies the product throughout its entire life cycle: from development and the purchasing of raw materials to manufacturing, packaging, final release and direct sale to the consumer.

Having IFS Food certification means working under a culture of control, prevention and continuous improvement. It is not just about manufacturing well, but about being able to prove it through processes, records, audits, evidence and traceability.

HSN renews its IFS Food certification with a Higher Level rating

HSN’s factory renewed its IFS Food certification in May 2026 with a Higher Level rating, the highest assessment within the IFS certification system.

This renewal was assessed by Bureau Veritas, an independent certification body, which once again verified compliance with the standards required by the IFS Food standard at our manufacturing plant in Granada.

In addition, this fourth renewal consolidates a journey that began in 2021 and was subsequently renewed in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026, reinforcing HSN’s commitment to in-house manufacturing based on food safety, quality and transparency.

Achieving Higher Level means being placed in the highest assessment tier of IFS Food, reserved for factories that demonstrate a particularly high level of compliance during the audit.

Why does the Higher Level rating make a difference?

The IFS Food scoring system differentiates the level of excellence achieved by the audited plant. To obtain the Higher Level rating, the total audit score must be equal to or higher than 95%.

Reaching this tier is not common: it is reserved exclusively for facilities that demonstrate an exceptionally high level of compliance with the requirements of the standard. For HSN, having been assessed and renewed with this score by an independent body of global prestige such as Bureau Veritas consolidates an uninterrupted quality journey since 2021.

Higher Level is an objective way to reinforce trust: an external audit confirms that the way we manufacture meets a higher level of demand.

What requirements must a factory meet to obtain IFS Food certification?

IFS Food requires the factory to work with a complete, documented and verifiable management system. The aspects assessed include:

  • Governance and commitment: management involvement, food safety culture, quality objectives and periodic review of the system.
  • Food safety and quality management system: up-to-date documentation, records, change control, HACCP management and defined procedures.
  • Resource management: trained staff, hygiene, suitable facilities and controlled working conditions.
  • Operational processes: purchasing, specifications, product development, manufacturing, packaging, storage, transport and maintenance.
  • Traceability and control: product identification, batch tracking, allergen control, contamination prevention and food fraud mitigation.
  • Measurement, analysis and improvement: internal audits, inspections, quantity control, product analysis, complaint management, product recall and corrective actions.
  • Food Defence: measures to protect the factory, processes and products against intentional risks or uncontrolled access.

All of this makes IFS Food a demanding certification, because it requires the factory to maintain a global view of quality: it is not enough to control one specific stage; there must be consistency throughout the entire production system.

A certified factory expanding its operational scope in 2026

Our commitment to continuous improvement has led us to adapt and expand our facilities. In this 2026 renewal, the scope of the IFS Food Higher Level certification incorporates new production areas and formats under the same strict control approach:

  • Powder formats: Mixing and packaging of food supplements and food preparations in bags, sachets, tins and plastic bottles.
  • Encapsulation and compression: In-house production of hard capsules and compression of advanced supplements.
  • Specialised lines: Packaging of soft capsules in plastic bottles and dosing of seeds in bags.

This reflects the evolution of our plant and HSN’s ability to integrate different manufacturing formats under one single approach: control, traceability, food safety and certified quality.

In-house manufacturing: the advantage of controlling the process from within

Unlike brands that depend on third parties and act as simple intermediaries, at HSN we are committed to in-house manufacturing. Producing in our facilities, accredited under the most demanding standards (IFS Food, GMP and HACCP), allows us to stay closer to the product.

By eliminating intermediaries, we not only guarantee a fair price (Right Price), but also ensure that each batch of finished product is backed by real scientific evidence and complete safety control before reaching your routine.

Manufacturing our products ourselves allows us to stay closer to the product, the process and the quality we want to offer.

What value does IFS Food offer customers?

For customers, IFS Food provides trust. Trust that behind every product there is an audited factory, a documented management system, controls on raw materials and finished products, traceability procedures and a culture of continuous improvement.

It also provides transparency: quality is not communicated through words alone, but through external certifications that verify how we work. At HSN, we want you to know what you are buying, how it is manufactured and which standards stand behind the products you incorporate into your routine.

IFS Food reinforces what has always been part of the HSN philosophy: offering reliable products, developed with rigour, manufactured under control and available directly from our online store.

Quality, safety and transparency in every process

IFS Food certification is part of a way of understanding manufacturing: working with demanding criteria, reviewing processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and maintaining a system prepared to respond to the needs of the market and our customers.

At HSN, we do not see quality as a final result, but as a set of decisions made every day inside the factory. From the raw material that enters to the product that leaves, every stage matters.

That is why renewing IFS Food with a Higher Level rating is much more than maintaining a certificate: it means continuing to move forward in the way we manufacture, improve and offer nutrition and healthy eating products with the trust you expect from HSN.
