It does give energy, it helps me a lot to concentrate on the exercise and not get distracted. You don't feel tachycardic or anything like that. My only problem is that the lemon flavor is really bad... it tastes like medicine and I find it difficult to drink it all.

It may be a personal thing, but it was the orange flavored one and I found it very very unpleasant. I didn't agree at all with a protein shake (I made it with milk) with that flavor.
